We are in our final week here in Costa Rica and the clock seems to be standing still. We are anxious to get back to the States and start making our new house a home. In terms of the blog, I don't think it is time to call it quits. I think we are just ending a chapter in our book and there is so much more to learn and share in the up coming chapter entitled "Nevada". Did you know that the spanish translation of Nevada is "snowfall"! Wow, that is very interesting considering the fact that Nevada is the driest state in the Union.
A morning walk on the beach had some nice early morning light on Flamingo!
What is a morning walk without a couple of the local K-9's giving you an escort.
Anyone interested in buying a restaurant/bar/residence in Potrero? Asking price is a cool $400k.
This is the establishment, currently Tuesday night is kariokie night....but you can figure out how to spell it and if you want to be from Venice, Ca. or not!
The current sunset is over the point in Flamingo.
The latest beach sculpture has a six foot beach wall in front of the casa. If you are too close you can't see the house but you can see the for sale sign!
What
is Costa Rica to Me?
There is not one Costa Rica to me,
Actually there are several to see.
Some is the landscape so rugged and bold,
Learning the customs and stories you’re told.
Part of the year Guanacaste is dusty and
brown,
And beautiful blue skies and sea add to it’s crown.
The other part of the year is muddy and
green,
The skies are gloomy and the tree leaves are clean.
Come when it’s dry and it’s a tourist
paradise,
No mosquitos, no spiders, not even head lice.
Play in the blue surf at any beach that
you wish,
But nobody will admit to an occasional jellyfish.
Every morning I walk out to see if the
ocean is still there,
Sometimes to check the tide and sometimes just to
stare.
It is amazing to see what has been
sculpted overnight,
Or what the sea has delivered to our doorstep with its
might.
Costa Rica is an ornathologists dream
come true,
The bird markings are vivid and come in every hue.
We wake in the morning to the song of the
Kiskadee,
In the evening the parakeets squawk in the trees.
Driving in Costa Rica is a treat and lots
of fun,
If you obey the driving laws you may be the only one.
Passing on double yellow lines on a hilly
curve,
You just need some guts but be prepared to swerve.
Now get all of your business done before
you run out of light,
Cause driving after dark can be a real fright.
Bicyclist with no reflective gear have
nothing to fear,
Livestock asleep in the road can make heavens gates
seem near.
“Pura Vida” is the slogan of the land,
But maybe this saying is not all that grand.
The English translation means “pure life”,
Is this
why men don’t take a wife?
The Costa Rican cuisine is not spicy or
hot,
Rice and beans is the“Typical” lot.
If you are a vegetarian this is the place
to be,
Fruits and vegetables abound of all varieties.
Se Vende is the most popular sign around,
Plenty of properties but few buyers to be found.
Unfinished buildings are seen wherever
you go,
The bum economy has slowed growth to zero.
So Costa Ricans, just keep things real,
The
Gringos and tourists will notice the appeal.
Zip-lining, surfing, and volcanoes too,
It is all in Costa Rica for you to see and do!
Fun Factoid #2: Organized crime is estimated to account for 10% of the United State's national income!!
